Nick Halloway ist ein charmanter Tagedieb, der sich stets mit dem geringsten Widerstand durchs Leben schummelt. Das ändert sich, als er einen mysteriösen Unfall buchstäblich verschläft und daraufhin feststellen muß, daß er unsichtbar geworden ist. Die CIA heftet sich sofort an die Fersen Nicks, um ihn als Versuchskaninchen zu gewinnen. Dank seiner Unsichtbarkeit kann Nick den Häschern des CIA-Söldners Jenkins entkommen. In der hübschen und smarten Alice findet Nick sogar eine Mitstreiterin bei der Flucht vor dem Geheimdienst. Doch Jenkins läßt nicht locker, und so kommt es auf dem Dach eines Hochhauses zum letzten Aufeinandertreffen der Kontrahenten.
