Immer mehr, immer fröhlicher (1943)
Als zur Zeit des Zweiten Weltkriegs in Washington akute Wohnungsnot herrscht, entscheidet sich Connie Milligan zu einem patriotischen Schritt: Sie will ihre Wohnung untervermieten. Benjamin Dingle, ein schon etwas reiferer, aber nicht minder resoluter Herr, überredet sie nahezu, ihm das Zimmer zu geben. Was Miss Milligan nicht weiß, ist, daß er es nicht für sich alleine halten will; denn kaum ist Connie mal aus dem Haus, sucht er einen Untermieter für die Hälfte seiner Hälfte und findet er diesen in Joe Carter. Lange kann er seinen Coup aber nicht vor der Vermieterin geheim halten. Connie ist außer sich und will beide Herren an die frische Luft setzen, jedoch bekommen sie noch eine Gnadenfrist für eine Nacht. Inzwischen hat Carter bemerkt, daß es sich bei Miss Milligan um eine attraktive Frau handelt, allerdings steht da noch ihr Verlobter Charles J. Pendergast im Weg. Aber auch für diese “Problem” gibt es ganz sicher eine Lösung...
