Das Gesicht der Wahrheit (2006)
Mitten in der Nacht stolpert die völlig verstörte Brenda in die Notaufnahme des Dempsy Medical Center in New Jersey. Der herbeigerufenen Polizei erzählt sie, dass ein Schwarzer sie aus ihrem Wagen gezerrt habe und davongefahren sei - mit ihrem kleinen Sohn, der auf der Rückbank schlief. Police Detective Lorenzo Council beginnt, in dem Fall zu ermitteln. Auch die Aktivistin einer Organisation, die vermisste Kinder aufspürt, beteiligt sich in einem Wettlauf gegen die Zeit an der verzweifelten Suche nach dem entführten Jungen. Als der Täter in einer der heruntergekommenen Siedlungen am Stadtrand vermutet wird, in der überwiegend Farbige wohnen, spitzt sich die Lage zwischen den Einwohnern und der überwiegend weißen Polizei gefährlich zu. Es kommt zu wütenden Protesten. Doch ist der Täter tatsächlich hier zu suchen? Detective Council hat Zweifel, ob die Mutter wirklich die Wahrheit sagt. Oder verschweigt sie etwas, das zu schrecklich wäre, um es auszusprechen?
