Francis McDonald (22. August 1891 – 18. September 1968) war ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler, dessen Karriere 52 Jahre umfasste. McDonald begann seine professionelle Schauspielkarriere beim Forepaugh Stock Company in Cincinnati. Nach acht Monaten spielte er eine Saison lang bei einer Theatergruppe in Seattle und anschließend drei Spielzeiten lang bei einer Truppe in San Diego und Honolulu. Seine Laufbahn beim Theater beendete er als junger Hauptdarsteller bei der American Stock Company in Spokane, Washington. Ab 1913 begann McDonald in der schnell wachsenden Filmindustrie zu arbeiten, zunächst für Marion Leonards Monopole Company in Hollywood. Zwischen 1913 und 1965 wirkte er in über 280 Filmen mit, darunter „Die Verführerin“ (1926) mit Greta Garbo. Nachdem er zum „Schönsten Mann Hollywoods“ gekürt worden war, strebte McDonald ein härteres Image an, indem er sich den Schnurrbart abrasierte und Schurkenrollen annahm. McDonald war einer von Cecil B. DeMilles Lieblingscharakterdarstellern.
