Mary Gordon (geboren als Mary Gilmour, 16. Mai 1882 – 23. August 1963) war eine schottische Schauspielerin, die lange in den Vereinigten Staaten lebte und hauptsächlich Haushälterinnen und Mütter verkörperte, insbesondere die Vermieterin Mrs. Hudson in den Sherlock-Holmes-Filmen der 1940er-Jahre mit Basil Rathbone und Nigel Bruce. Zwischen 1925 und 1950 wirkte sie in fast 300 Filmen mit. Mitte der 1920er-Jahre kam sie mit ihrer Mutter und ihrer Tochter (beide ebenfalls Mary) nach Los Angeles und begann, Variationen der Rollen zu spielen, die sie später ihr ganzes Berufsleben lang prägen sollten. Während der Dreharbeiten zu „Hangman’s House“ (1928) freundete sie sich mit John Ford an und drehte sieben weitere Filme mit ihm. 1939 übernahm sie ihre bekannteste Rolle als Sherlock Holmes’ Vermieterin und spielte diese in zehn Filmen und zahlreichen Hörspielen. Sie war Gründungsmitglied der Hollywood Canteen und unterhielt während des Zweiten Weltkriegs die Soldaten. In der Radiosendung „Those We Love“ spielte sie regelmäßig die Rolle der Mrs. Emmett. Sie zog sich gerade in den Ruhestand zurück, als das Fernsehen die Unterhaltungsbranche revolutionierte, und hatte nur einen einzigen Auftritt in diesem Medium. Sie engagierte sich bei den „Daughters of Scotia“, einer Hilfsorganisation des Ordens der schottischen Clans. Ihre letzten Jahre verbrachte sie mit ihrer Tochter und ihrem Enkel in Pasadena, Kalifornien. Sie starb am 23. August 1963 im Alter von 81 Jahren in Pasadena, Kalifornien, nach langer Krankheit.
