Meuterei auf der Bounty (1935)
Portsmouth, 1787. Die HMS Bounty begibt sich auf eine über zweijährige Reise nach Tahiti, um von dort Brotfruchtbäume zu laden, die man als billige Nahrung für Sklaven benötigt. Das Kommando führt Kapitän Bligh, ein Mann niederer Herkunft, aber ein hervorragender Seemann, der aber für seine Brutalität bekannt ist. Einer der Offiziere ist Fletcher Christian, der um Ausgleich bemüht ist. Schon vor der Abfahrt stellt sich die Brutalität Blighs heraus: er lässt einen Seemann prügeln, obwohl er bereits tot ist. Während der Fahrt zeichnet sich Bligh vor allem dadurch aus, das er seine Mannschaft wg. geringster Anlässe prügeln lässt. Außerdem kürzt er die Essensrationen. Nach einigen Wochen auf Tahiti beginnt die Rückfahrt. Dort stirbt zunächst der beliebte Schiffsarzt „Bacchus“, da ihn Bligh trotz Krankheit antreten lässt. Dann lässt der Kapitän noch einige Männer in Ketten legen. Daraufhin schreitet Fletcher Christian ein; er ruft zur Meuterei auf...
