Hector William „Harry“ Cording war ein britischer Charakterdarsteller. Er wuchs in seiner Heimat England auf und wurde dort ausgebildet. Später ließ er sich dauerhaft in Los Angeles nieder, wo er 1925 seine Filmkarriere begann. Von da an bis in die 1950er-Jahre wirkte er in zahlreichen Hollywood-Filmen mit. Mit seiner imposanten Größe von 1,83 m und seiner stämmigen Statur verkörperte Harry, der Handlanger, meist Ganoven, Handlanger von Schurken und Polizisten. Cordings bekannteste Rollen waren wohl die des Schurken Dickon Malbete, Hauptmann der Wache in Errol Flynns „Die Abenteuer des Robin Hood“, und die des Thamal, des bulligen Handlangers von Bela Lugosis Figur in „Die schwarze Katze“ (1934). In den 1940er-Jahren stand er bei Universal Pictures unter Vertrag und hatte kleinere Rollen in vielen ihrer Horrorfilme, wie beispielsweise in „Der Wolfsmensch“. Nach einem kleinen Auftritt in 20th Century-Fox' Adventures of Sherlock Holmes mit Basil Rathbone (1939) übernahm er Nebenrollen und kleinere Rollen in sieben der zwölf Sherlock Holmes-Filme von Universal Studios, in denen Rathbone die Hauptrolle spielte.
