Als Robin von Locksley erfährt, dass Prinz John seinem Bruder Richard Löwenherz den Thron von England rauben will, flieht er in den Sherwood Forest, wo er bald seine Truppe von getreuen Gesetzlosen um sich sammelt, um es John, dem grausamen Guy von Gisbourne und dem Sheriff von Nottingham, heimzuzahlen. Nebenbei bemüht er sich natürlich auch noch um seine Jugendliebe Marian.
