Francis Ford (geboren als Francis Feeney, 14. August 1881 – 5. September 1953) war ein produktiver Filmschauspieler, Drehbuchautor und Regisseur. Er war der Mentor und ältere Bruder des Filmregisseurs John Ford. Er wirkte auch in vielen Filmen von John Ford mit, darunter „Young Mr. Lincoln“ und „Der Sieger“. Francis Ford wurde in Portland, Maine, geboren. Er war der Sohn von John A. Feeney, der 1854 im Dorf Spiddal in der Grafschaft Galway, Irland, geboren wurde. 1878 zog John nach Portland, Maine, und eröffnete in der Center Street 42 einen Saloon, der als Lebensmittelgeschäft getarnt war. In den folgenden Jahren eröffnete John vier weitere. Nach seinem Dienst in der Infanterie während des Spanisch-Amerikanischen Krieges verließ Francis sein Elternhaus. Er wagte sich in die Filmbranche nach New York City und arbeitete für David Horsley, Al Christie und die San Antonio-Niederlassung der Star Film Company unter Gaston Méliès. Den Namen Ford entlehnte er dem Automobilhersteller. Francis Ford begann seine Hollywood-Karriere in San Antonio bei Thomas H. Ince in dessen Bison-Studio, wo er Western inszenierte und auch selbst mitwirkte. Francis Fords jüngerer Bruder, John M. Feeney, war ein erfolgreicher Fullback und Defensive Tackle im Footballteam der Portland High School, das die Staatsmeisterschaft gewann. Er trug den Spitznamen „Bull“. 1914 folgte Bull Francis nach Hollywood, änderte seinen Namen in John Ford und sollte später den beachtlichen Ruf seines älteren Bruders übertreffen. Francis Fords Sohn, Philip Ford, war ebenfalls Filmschauspieler und -regisseur.
