Gary Leonard Oldman (geb. 21. März 1958) ist ein englischer Schauspieler, Filmemacher und Musiker, der dem Publikum für seine Darstellungen von dunklen und moralisch zweideutigen Charakteren bekannt ist. Er spielte in Filmen wie Sid und Nancy, Prick Up Your Ears, JFK, Dracula, True Romance, Léon, The Fifth Element, The Contender, der Harry Potter Filmreihe und der Batman Filmreihe sowie in Fernsehsendungen wie Friends und Fallen Angels. Oldman wurde Mitte der 80er Jahre mit einer Reihe von Auftritten bekannt, die den herausragenden Filmkritiker Roger Ebert dazu veranlassten, ihn als "den besten jungen britischen Schauspieler überhaupt" zu bezeichnen. Er wurde von einer Reihe erfolgreicher Akteure als Einfluss genannt. Neben führenden und zentralen Nebenrollen in Hollywood-Großfilmen hat Oldman häufig in unabhängigen Filmen und Fernsehsendungen mitgewirkt. Neben der Schauspielerei führte er Regie, schrieb und koproduzierte Nil by Mouth, einen Film, der teilweise auf seiner eigenen Kindheit basiert, und war Produzent mehrerer Filme. Oldman erhielt unter anderem Emmy-, Screen Actors Guild-, BAFTA- und Independent Spirit Award Nominierungen für sein schauspielerisches Werk und wurde als einer der größten Schauspieler bezeichnet, der nie für einen Academy Award nominiert wurde. Für seine Beiträge zum Science-Fiction-Genre erhielt er den Saturn-Preis mit zwei weiteren Nominierungen. Er wurde auch für die Palme d'Or 1997 nominiert und gewann zwei BAFTA Awards für seinen Film über Nil By Mouth. Im Jahr 2011 wählten die Empire-Leser Oldman zur "Ikone des Films", als Anerkennung für seine Beiträge zum Kino.
