Hume Blake Cronyn Jr. war ein kanadisch-amerikanischer Schauspieler, Drehbuchautor und Bühnenautor. Im Laufe seiner Karriere trat er in zahlreichen Bühnenproduktionen sowie in Fernseh- und Filmrollen auf und erhielt zahlreiche Auszeichnungen, darunter drei Primetime Emmy Awards und zwei Tony Awards, sowie Nominierungen für einen Oscar und einen Golden Globe. Cronyn war mit der Schauspielerin Jessica Tandy verheiratet, mit der er 1986 den Kennedy Center Honor und 1990 die National Medal of Arts erhielt. 1999 wurde er mit einem Stern auf dem kanadischen Walk of Fame geehrt.
