George Henry Sanders (3 juillet 1906 – 25 avril 1972) était un acteur de cinéma et de télévision britannique, auteur-compositeur-interprète, compositeur et écrivain. Sa carrière d'acteur s'est étendue sur plus de quarante ans. Son accent anglais prononcé et sa voix de basse profonde et suave lui ont souvent valu d'être choisi pour interpréter des personnages sophistiqués mais malfaisants. Il est peut-être surtout connu pour ses rôles de Jack Favell dans Rebecca (1940), de Scott Ffolliott dans Correspondant étranger (1940, un rare rôle héroïque), du Saran de Gaza dans Samson et Dalila (1949), le film le plus populaire de l'année, d'Addison DeWitt dans Eve (1950, pour lequel il a remporté un Oscar), de Sir Brian De Bois-Guilbert dans Ivanhoé (1952), du roi Richard Cœur de Lion dans Richard et les Croisés (1954), de Mr. Freeze dans un épisode en deux parties de Batman (1966), de la voix du tigre malveillant et misanthrope Shere Khan dans Le Livre de la jungle de Disney (1967), du justicier élégant Le Faucon dans les années 1940 (un rôle finalement légué à son frère aîné, Tom Conway), et de Simon Templar, Le Saint, dans cinq films réalisés dans les années 1930 et 1940.
