Charles Robert Redford, Jr., plus connu sous le nom de Robert Redford, est un acteur et réalisateur américain né le 18 août 1936 à Santa Monica en Californie. En 1966, il devient célèbre grâce à deux films dramatiques : La Poursuite impitoyable et Propriété interdite. Le western Butch Cassidy et le Kid sort trois ans plus tard et consolide sa notoriété. S'ensuivent d'autres succès, tels Les Hommes du président, L'Arnaque, Gatsby le Magnifique, Out of Africa ou encore L'Homme qui murmurait à l'oreille des chevaux. Il remporte l'Oscar du meilleur réalisateur pour Des gens comme les autres en 1981 ainsi qu'un Oscar d'honneur pour l'ensemble de sa carrière en 2002.
