Kumail Ali Nanjiani, né le 2 mai 1978 à Karachi (Pakistan), est un acteur, comédien et scénariste pakistano-américain. Après s’être installé aux États-Unis pour ses études à Grinnell College, il se lance dans le stand-up puis obtient ses premiers petits rôles à la télévision. Il se fait connaître grâce à la série Silicon Valley (2014-2019) où il incarne Dinesh Chugtai et à son film The Big Sick (2017), qu’il co-écrit et dans lequel il tient le rôle principal, ce qui lui vaut une nomination aux Oscars pour le meilleur scénario original. Par la suite, il participe à des œuvres variées : il prête sa voix dans Adventure Time, joue dans Eternals (2021), apparaît dans Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Boys Presents: Diabolical et incarne le rôle principal dans la mini-série Welcome to Chippendales (2022). Son jeu alterne entre humour, tendresse et gravité, et il est salué pour sa capacité à aborder des thèmes culturels, identitaires et personnels au sein de rôles à la fois divertissants et sensibles.
