Mary Louise "Meryl" Streep (née le 22 juin 1949) est une actrice américaine qui a travaillé dans le théâtre, la télévision et le cinéma. Elle est largement considérée comme l'une des actrices les plus talentueuses et respectées de l'ère moderne. Streep a fait ses débuts professionnels sur scène dans The Playboy of Seville en 1971, avant de faire ses débuts à l'écran dans le téléfilm The Deadliest Season en 1977. La même année, elle fait ses débuts au cinéma avec Julia. Le succès critique et commercial est rapidement arrivé avec des rôles dans The Deer Hunter (1978) et Kramer vs Kramer (1979), le premier donnant à Streep sa première nomination aux Oscars et le second sa première victoire. Elle a ensuite remporté un Oscar de la meilleure actrice pour sa performance dans Sophie's Choice (1982). Streep a reçu 16 nominations aux Oscars, deux aux Oscars, et 25 nominations aux Golden Globe, sept nominations, soit plus que tout autre acteur dans l'histoire de l'un ou l'autre prix. Son travail lui a également valu deux Emmy Awards, deux Screen Actors Guild Awards, un prix du Festival de Cannes, quatre New York Film Critics Circle Awards, cinq nominations aux Grammy Awards, un BAFTA award, un Australian Film Institute Award et une nomination aux Tony Awards, entre autres. Elle a reçu le prix de l'American Film Institute's Lifetime Achievement Award en 2004.
