'Una fantastica e incredibile giornata da dimenticare', la nuova commedia targata Disney, segue le disavventure dell'undicenne Alexander (Ed Oxenbould), che passa la giornata peggiore della sua giovane vita. Una giornata che inizia con una gomma appiccicata ai capelli, seguita da una calamità dopo l'altra. Ma quando Alexander racconta queste disavventure alla sua allegra famiglia, trova poca comprensione, e si chiede se le sfortune capitino tutte a lui. Ben presto scopre di non essere da solo, perché anche sua madre (Jennifer Garner) e sua sorella (Kerris Dorsey) si trovano ad affrontare una giornata altrettanto terribile, orribile, nera e pessima. Chiunque sostenga che non esiste una giornata nera, semplicemente non ne ha mai vissuta una.
