Patrick Joseph McGoohan (19 marzo 1928 – 13 gennaio 2009) è stato un attore nato negli Stati Uniti, cresciuto in Irlanda e in Inghilterra, con una lunga carriera teatrale e cinematografica, in particolare nelle serie televisive degli anni '60 Danger Man (rinominata Secret Agent quando esportata negli Stati Uniti) e The Prisoner. McGoohan scrisse e diresse diversi episodi di The Prisoner personalmente, usando occasionalmente gli pseudonimi Joseph Serf e Paddy Fitz. Successivamente apparve in diversi episodi di Colombo, vincendo due volte l'Emmy, Scanners di David Cronenberg e in Braveheart di Mel Gibson nel ruolo di re Edoardo I.
