José Antonio Domínguez Bandera, conosciuto professionalmente come Antonio Banderas, è un attore e cantante spagnolo. Noto per il suo lavoro in film di diversi generi, ha ricevuto vari riconoscimenti, tra cui un Festival di Cannes e un European Film Award, oltre a nomination per un Academy Award, un Tony Award, due Primetime Emmy Awards e cinque Golden Globe Awards. Banderas ha fatto il suo debutto cinematografico nella commedia demenziale di Pedro Almodóvar Labirinto della passione (1982). Da allora hanno collaborato insieme in molti film tra cui Matador (1986), La legge del desiderio (1987), Donne sull'orlo di una crisi di nervi (1988), Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! (1989) e La pelle in cui abito (2011). Per il film del 2019 Dolor y gloria, Banderas ha ottenuto vari riconoscimenti come miglior attore, tra cui il Festival di Cannes, il Goya Award e le nomination agli Academy Awards e ai Golden Globe Awards. È anche noto per diversi film di Hollywood, come Philadelphia (1993), Intervista col vampiro (1994), Desperado (1995), Assassini (1995), Evita (1996) e La maschera di Zorro (1998). È apparso anche nei primi tre film della serie Spy Kids (2001-2003) e ha fornito la voce del Gatto con gli stivali nel franchise di Shrek (2004-presente) e nei suoi film spin-off Il gatto con gli stivali (2011) e Il gatto con gli stivali: L'ultimo desiderio (2022). Nel 2003, Banderas ha fatto il suo debutto teatrale negli Stati Uniti come Guido Contini in Nine, per il quale è stato nominato per un Tony Award e ha vinto un Drama Desk Award. Ha ricevuto nomination ai Primetime Emmy Award per i suoi ruoli nel film per la televisione And Starring Pancho Villa as Himself (2004) e nella seconda stagione di Genius (2018); la sua interpretazione di Pablo Picasso in quest'ultimo gli è valsa il plauso della critica.
