Alfredo James Pacino (geboren 25 april 1940) is een Amerikaanse acteur en filmmaker. In een carrière van meer dan vijf decennia heeft hij vele prijzen en nominaties ontvangen, waaronder een Academy Award, twee Tony Awards en twee Primetime Emmy Awards. Hij is een van de weinige artiesten die de Triple Crown of Acting heeft ontvangen. Hij is ook geëerd met de AFI Life Achievement Award, de Cecil B. DeMille Award en de National Medal of Arts. Een methode-acteur en voormalig student van de HB Studio en de Actors Studio, waar hij les kreeg van Charlie Laughton en Lee Strasberg, Pacino's filmdebuut kwam op 29-jarige leeftijd met een ondergeschikte rol in Me, Natalie (1969). Hij kreeg lovende kritieken voor zijn eerste hoofdrol als heroïneverslaafde in The Panic in Needle Park (1971). Brede bijval en erkenning kwam met zijn doorbraakrol als Michael Corleone in Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather (1972), waarvoor hij zijn eerste Oscar-nominatie ontving, en hij zou de rol opnieuw opnemen in de sequels The Godfather Part II (1974) en The Godfather Deel III (1990). Zijn vertolking van Michael Corleone wordt beschouwd als een van de grootste in de filmgeschiedenis.
