Breakfast of Champions - Frühstück für Helden (1999)
Dwayne Hoover, Midland Citys bekanntester Autohausbesitzer und erfolgsverwöhnter Strahlemann, droht endgültig seinen Verstand zu verlieren. Ehefrau Celia ist längst zum Tabletten- und TV-Junkie geworden, Sohn George träumt von der großen Karriere als singendes Barhäschen und sein Mitarbeiter Harry sieht sich am liebsten in Frauenunterwäsche. Als dann auch noch seine Sekretärin und Geliebte Francine mit dem Ende ihrer Beziehung droht, flüchtet sich Hoover in die verrückte Vorstellung, daß ihm nur noch der verwirrte Science Fiction-Autor Kilgore Trout helfen kann. Bis diese beiden jedoch endlich zusammentreffen, wird Hoovers Leben wohl endgültig aus den Fugen geraten.
