Bei einem Bankraub wird der Revolverheld Quirt Evens verwundet. Er gerät in die Obhut einer friedliebenden Quäkerfamilie, die ihn wieder gesund pflegt und verliebt sich in Penelope, die hübsche Tochter Hauses. Die Zeit bei den religiösen Menschen bringt ihn zum Nachdenken und er fasst den Entschluss, seine Waffe niederzulegen. Mit seiner neuen Gesinnung kommt er allerdings in Konflikte, als seine schießwütigen Feinde auftauchen und die Vergangenheit ihn brutal einholt...
