Der Baron von Arizona (1950)
Der Betrüger James Reavis hat einen perfiden Plan ausgeheckt, der es ihm erlauben würde, den Vereinigten Staaten das komplette Arizonagebiet streitig zu machen. Jahre investiert er in die Umsetzung des Planes, angefangen von dem kleinen Waisenmädchen Sofia, für welche er falsche Papiere anfertigt, die sie als Nachfahrin eines mythischen spanischen Nobelmannes ausgeben. Als nach jahrelanger Arbeit sämtliche nötigen Papiere gefälscht sind, heiratet James die nunmehr erwachsene Sofia und erhebt bei der US-Regierung seinen "rechtmäßigen" Anspruch auf das Arizonagebiet. Aber weder die Regierung noch die in dem Gebiet ansässigen Siedler wollen sich ihr Land wegnehmen lassen und zweifeln die Identiät Sofias an. Nun wird sich zeigen, ob James bei der perniblen Umsetzung seines Planes wirklich kein Fehler unterlaufen ist...
