Der Cowboy, den es zweimal gab (1951)
Ein dem Alkohol verfallener, sich in Mexiko herumtreibender Film-Cowboy wird durch die Fernsehausstrahlung seiner alten Filme in den USA beim jungen Publikum unerwartet populär. Rührige Werbemanager wollen die Filmserie von einst neu aufleben lassen und starten eine Werbekampagne mit einem Doppelgänger. Während sich das Original, das zunächst unauffindbar ist, als recht geldgierig erweist, zeichnet sich das Double durch eine Stiftung für arme Kinder aus. Turbulente, munter gespielte Komödie, die den Groschenheft-Cowboy im Stil von Hopalong Cassidy persifliert; am Rande geben ehemalige MGM-Filmstars wie Elizabeth Taylor, Esther Williams und Clark Gable ein kleines Gastspiel.
