Jeff Bridges ist ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler und Musiker, der vielen Filmfans vor allem als bowlender Dude in der Kultkomödie The Big Lebowski (1998) bekannt ist. Für seine Rolle als abgehalfterter Countrysänger in Crazy Heart (2009) gewann er den Oscar als bester Hauptdarsteller. Jeff Bridges wurde 1949 als Sohn von Hollywood-Schauspieler Lloyd Bridges und jüngerer Bruder von Beau Bridges in Los Angeles geboren. Seinen Durchbruch feierte er mit seiner ersten größeren Rolle in Peter Bogdanovichs Tragikomödie Die letzte Vorstellung (1971), für die er eine Oscarnominierung erhielt. Die gleiche Ehre wurde ihm zwei Jahre später für seinen Part als draufgängerischer Kleinganove an der Seite von Clint Eastwood im Roadmovie Die Letzten beißen die Hunde (1974) zu Teil. Schnell wurde Jeff Bridges ein Star des New Hollywood – Kinos der 1970er Jahre, wagte sich mit Filmen wie dem Remake zu King Kong (1976) aber auch an kommerzieller ausgerichtete Projekte. In den 1980er Jahren war Jeff Bridges in den unterschiedlichsten Rollen in Filmen aus nahezu jedem Genre zu sehen. Im Science-Fiction-Kultfilm Tron (1982) verkörperte er einen Spieleprogrammierer, im Krimi-Drama Bis zum bitteren Ende (1981) spielte er einen unschuldig Verdächtigten und konnte schließlich in der romantischen Tragikomödie Die Fabelhaften Baker Boys (1989) an der Seite von Michelle Pfeiffer erstmalig sein musikalisches Talent aufblitzen lassen. Nach vielbeachteten Rollen in den Dramen König der Fischer (1991) und Fearless – Jenseits der Angst (1993) sicherte sich Jeff Bridges mit seiner Darstellung des permanent zugedröhnten Lebenskünstlers Dude im Kultfilm The Big Lebowski (1998) endgültig einen Platz in der Filmgeschichte. Der Schauspieler bezeichnet den White-Russian trinkenden Verlierer oft als seine liebste Figur, während zahlreiche Fans bis heute in passenden Schlabber-Outfits auf Parties ihrem Lieblingsfilm huldigen. Nach insgesamt vier Nominierungen wurde Jeff Bridges schließlich für seine Rolle als abgehalfteter Country-Sänger Bad Blake in Crazy Heart (2009) mit seinem ersten Oscar ausgezeichnet.
