Gene Hackman, né Eugene Allen Hackman [ d͡ʒiːn ˈhækmæn]1 le 30 janvier 1930 à San Bernardino en Californie, est un acteur et romancier américain. Au cours d’une carrière courant sur plus de six décennies, Gene Hackman a remporté deux Oscars, quatre Golden Globes, un Screen Actors Guild Award et deux BAFTA. Nommé pour cinq Oscars tout au long de sa carrière, il remporte en 1972 celui du Meilleur acteur pour son rôle de Jimmy « Popeye » Doyle (en) dans le thriller French Connection (1971) de William Friedkin, et en 1993 celui du Meilleur acteur dans un second rôle pour « Little » Bill Daggett dans le western Impitoyable (1992) de Clint Eastwood. Ses autres nominations pour l'Oscar du meilleur second rôle le sont pour les films Bonnie et Clyde (1967) et I Never Sang for My Father (1970), avec une deuxième nomination pour le prix du meilleur acteur pour Mississippi Burning (1988).
