John Joseph "Jack" Nicholson (nato il 22 aprile 1937) è un attore, regista, sceneggiatore e produttore cinematografico statunitense, considerato una delle più grandi icone della storia del cinema. Con 12 candidature, è l'attore con il maggior numero di nomination nella storia degli Oscar. Ha vinto tre volte il prestigioso premio: due come miglior attore protagonista per Qualcuno volò sul nido del cuculo (1975) e Qualcosa è cambiato (1997), e una come miglior attore non protagonista per Voglia di tenerezza (1983). È inoltre uno dei pochi interpreti ad aver ricevuto candidature agli Oscar in ogni decennio dagli anni Sessanta agli anni Duemila. Nel corso di una carriera lunga oltre cinquant'anni, Nicholson ha interpretato alcuni dei personaggi più memorabili del cinema, recitando in film come Easy Rider (1969), Cinque pezzi facili (1970), L'ultima corvè (1973), Chinatown (1974), Professione: reporter (1975), Shining (1980), Reds (1981), Batman (1989), Codice d'onore (1992), La promessa (2001) e A proposito di Schmidt (2002).
