Robert Charles Durman Mitchum (6 augustus 1917 – 1 juli 1997) was een Amerikaanse filmacteur, auteur, componist en zanger. Hij stond op nummer 23 in de lijst van het American Film Institute van de grootste mannelijke Amerikaanse filmlegendes aller tijden. Mitchum wordt vooral herinnerd vanwege zijn hoofdrollen in verschillende belangrijke films in de film noir-stijl en wordt beschouwd als een voorloper van de antihelden die in de jaren 50 en 60 in films zo prominent aanwezig waren.
