Sir Nigel John Dermot "Sam" Neill (nato il 14 settembre 1947) è un attore neozelandese. La sua carriera ha incluso ruoli da protagonista sia in drammi che in blockbuster. Considerato un "protagonista internazionale", è considerato uno degli attori più versatili della sua generazione. Nato in Irlanda del Nord da madre inglese e padre neozelandese, Neill si trasferì a Christchurch con la sua famiglia nel 1954. Ha ottenuto il riconoscimento per la prima volta con la sua apparizione nel film Sleeping Dogs (1977), a cui ha seguito ruoli da protagonista in La mia brillante carriera (1979), Omen III: The Final Conflict, Possession (entrambi del 1981), Evil Angels (noto anche come A Cry in the Dark) (1988), Dead Calm (1989), Caccia a Ottobre Rosso (1990), The Piano (1993) e In the Mouth of Madness (1994).
