Charlton Heston (4 ottobre 1923 – 5 aprile 2008) è stato un attore americano di cinema, teatro e televisione. È noto per ruoli eroici in film come I dieci comandamenti, Il pianeta delle scimmie e Ben-Hur, per i quali ha vinto l'Oscar come miglior attore. Heston era anche noto per il suo attivismo politico. Negli anni '50 e '60 fu uno dei pochi attori di Hollywood a parlare apertamente contro il razzismo ed era un attivo sostenitore del Movimento per i Diritti Civili. Inizialmente un democratico moderato, in seguito sostenne politiche repubblicane conservatrici ed è stato presidente della National Rifle Association dal 1998 al 2003.
